You may have marked one person playing dholak, bongo, tabla etc in Indian Idol season 12. Specially today was day when rhythem was at its best considering songs of Reena Roy. ‘Jane Ja O Meri Jane Ja’, ‘Tere Sang Pyar Mein Naheen Todana’, ‘Meri Saanso Ko Jo Behka Rahi Hai’, ‘Sheesha Ho Ya Dil Ho’, ‘Aadmi Musafir Hai’. Most of by LP and some by RD Burman.

He is Girish Vishwa. Well known Dholak player. Born in 1964, Girishjee is from Madhya Pradesh. He completed his graduation from Christian college, Indore. He came Mumbai to make a big name in music industry in 1985. He started recording music with well known music directors Ram Lakshman and others. His one of films is ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. I am sure you love tabla beats in ‘Dhak Dhak Karne Laga’ of ‘Beta’ movie. No wonder, it is Girishjee who played this beat. He has worked with Ismail Darbar in ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ and ‘Devdas’. On TV front, he was seen playing Dholak in ‘Saregamapa’ also. And as you can mark, ‘Saregamapa’ team- Aaditya Narayan, Himesh Reshamiya is now with ‘Indian Idol’, same is with Girishjee.

Girishjee runs a youtube channel with his own name- Girish Vishwa. In a video, Girishjee says he bows to Bhagwan when leaving home for Saregamapa show rehearsal and shooting. When he sits in car, he bows to Bhagwan again. He goes to studio located in Gokuldham society, which is in Goregaon East in Mumbai. Yes, you got it right. In Taarak Maheta Ka Oolta Chasmah, Gokuldham society is too situated in Goregaon (E). Then he goes to technical rehearsal in studio P3, Malad West, Mumbai. He says lot of care is taken in view of coronavirus. Name and mobile number is always noted whenever crew member comes. There is little temple of Bhagwan Ganeshjee inside studio. Everyday pooja is performed there in temple and every crew member takes blessing of Ganeshjee. Only after then, rehearsal starts. His instruments barring Dholak, are kept in studio for four months.

Many a times, such persons who are real backbone of such musical show or music orchestra are not given enough weightage they deserve. We love you Girishjee for your extraordinary talent.
